Think School – Think Helping A Student

For many years, the Land of Mickey has enjoyed a reputation of being very generous with those in need.

We thought that, as we move into the fall season, we remember those who can use a little help getting their kids ready for school. So we’re asking you to please bring school supplies (to the picnic) that we can donate.

Pens & Pencils…..Paper…..binders…..crayons…..rulers…..you get the idea.

Also, some of these kids need help getting a good meal, so we are looking for canned goods for an area food pantry.

 Canned soup, vegetables, fruit, etc.

No anchovies!! I will personally come to your house and TP it if you do.

Any questions? Email Steve or Debby at sjacobs192@comcast.net

Travel Tips

Tips to Help You Pack for a Trip

Gone are the days when you could pack your entire closet (including several pairs of shoes!) for a vacation. Since most airlines are charging to check bags, it has simply become a matter of practical economics.

1. Security and Keeping Details Safe

Scan your passport, passport photos and paper tickets (if not the e type). Store this (in an email for e.g.) in your web based email account.

You can also store the details of your emergency 'lost card' telephone numbers in your web based email account so you know who to contact if your credit card or ATM card is lost or stolen.

This way, even if you lose everything, you have immediate access your all important information. You can even email the details page of your passport to the embassy or consulate when applying for a new one.

2. Split up your valuables

Split up your bank cards, cash, travelers’ checks and credit cards as much as possible in different pockets, your bags and wallet when packing. In case you do get robbed, at least you won't be strapped for cash (unless you have all your bags AND your wallet stolen of course!).

TIP: I have a small money clip that holds a couple of expired credit cards with a five and a few singles. Most muggings happen in the evening. This is what you hand the bad guy. It’s usually too dark for them to check expiration dates. Hand it to them and back away.

3. Leave the Rolex, big rings and designer clothes at home

This is so obvious but so often overlooked. Don’t make yourself a target. You’re a tourist. And trust me on this....you look like a tourist. Don’t give the bad guys any more reason than they already have to pick on you. Dress as plainly as you can. At least try to blend in.

4. Blue Jeans and Dockers WASTE SPACE

The goal these days is to pack smart. Consider your travel clothes as a separate wardrobe. Blue jeans and other clothes made of cotton or cotton blends just don’t cut it anymore, because they are heavy, stain easily and don’t breathe well. Look for clothes made of the new ‘micro’ fiber technology. Lightweight, stain and wrinkle resistant and easily rinsed and dried. They breathe and wick moisture – so you’ll stay cooler and warmer as the need may be! FACT: You can pack three (3) pair of micro-fiber pants in the same space as one (1) pair of jeans or Dockers!!

5. Pack in Plastic

Pack everything in clear plastic bags (preferably zip lock), divided into items e.g. underwear, t-shirts, shorts etc. before packing in your suitcase or carry-on. One plastic bag for each type of clothing. This is extremely useful in various ways. When you unpack your bag you just take out a series of bags and you can see immediately what you want. So an overnight stay somewhere just means taking 1 item out of a bag - no rummaging!! In addition, if you have to unpack at customs etc, instead of having to disgorge all your clothing etc out in front of everybody, you can calmly take maybe 5/6 bags out, the contents of which can be clearly seen by the officials. To repack then is also dead easy.

Disney's recent interest in the gaming business ----

---- especially application-based gaming business is no shocker. As the movie industry moves online and entertainment becomes a more social phenomena, Iger has shown a willingness to adapt. Some of the moves have been from standard corporate toolkit, such as swapping executive positions and re-designing retail stores. Others are more innovative. For example, with the help of board member Steve Jobs, better known as the CEO of Apple Inc., Iger and Disney are building a digital entertainment cross-platform system called Keychest, which will allow Disney customers to transport movies and games from phone, to console, to computer; and to television.
